ECIO 2027 – Expanding horizons in interventional oncology
After a very productive and inspirational ECIO 2026, we are excited to share with you the first details of ECIO 2027, where we will continue to explore new frontiers in interventional oncology while strengthening the foundations of our specialty.
As interventional oncology becomes increasingly integrated into multidisciplinary cancer care pathways, ECIO remains committed to providing a programme that balances innovation, evidence, technical excellence, and practical clinical application. ECIO 2027 will once again bring together experts from across the globe and disciplines to share knowledge, challenge perspectives, and shape the future of patient care.
The basic course this year will focus on liver treatments. Designed for those seeking to build or reinforce their knowledge, this course will provide a comprehensive overview of current approaches, techniques, and clinical considerations in liver-directed therapies.
Building on the tremendous success of its debut in 2026, the breast cryoablation course will return to the programme. Expert lectures and practical learning opportunities will allow attendees to tap into one of the most exciting and rapidly evolving treatment areas within interventional oncology.
As always, multidisciplinary collaboration will remain at the heart of ECIO. The ever-popular tumour board sessions will focus on HCC, lung, renal, and colorectal cancer, bringing together experts from interventional oncology, medical oncology, surgery, radiation oncology, and related specialties to discuss real-world clinical decision-making and evolving treatment strategies.
A major addition to the 2027 programme will be the new Mastering local treatment series. These dedicated sessions will take an in-depth look at the role of local therapies in breast, lung, and colorectal cancer, offering practical guidance, expert discussion, and insights into the latest evidence shaping patient management.
The programme will also feature dedicated updates on emerging developments across a range of disease areas. Sessions on What’s New in Prostate Cancer and What’s New in Pancreatic Cancer will highlight recent advances, evolving treatment paradigms in these important fields.
Looking ahead to the future of healthcare, ECIO 2027 will include a special session dedicated to artificial intelligence. As AI continues to influence imaging, treatment planning, workflow optimization, this session will explore cases comparing human vs. AI-suggested treatment options.
ECIO 2027 will also feature a dedicated paediatric session, providing a platform to discuss the unique challenges and opportunities associated with minimally invasive cancer treatments for our youngest patients.
Alongside these new additions, attendees can look forward to comprehensive discussions on many of the core topics that define contemporary interventional oncology. Sessions on hepatocellular carcinoma, immunotherapy, musculoskeletal interventions, and morbidity and mortality will return to the programme, ensuring continued focus on both innovation and clinical excellence.
