In order to cater to the growing number of interventionalists involved in oncology, the CIRSE Foundation organised the first biennial European Conference on Interventional Oncology in 2008 in Florence, Italy. It was a resounding success, the scientific content, the quality of the presentations and the overall number of delegates exceeding all expectations.
To satisfy IO’s rapid growth, in 2012, ECIO went from being a biennial event to an annual fixture in the interventional radiological and oncological calendar.
Today, ECIO welcomes over 1,450 delegates from all over the globe to cutting-edge conferences, held in and around Europe. Thanks to CIRSE’s Collaborating Against Cancer Initiatives, delegates are able to bring their non-radiologist colleagues at no extra cost and a travel grant: establishing ECIO as a truly multidisciplinary conference. The European Conference on Interventional Oncology is therefore becoming the beacon for a more modern and collaborative way of treating cancer patients.
