The European Conference on Interventional Oncology continues to serve as the global home for those pioneering the future of minimally invasive cancer care. As we reflect on the dynamic and forward-thinking discussions that took place at ECIO 2025 in Rotterdam, the Scientific Programme Committee is already deep into planning an even more ambitious programme for 2026.
Interventional oncology is advancing at a remarkable pace, and our community continues to lead the charge in integrating innovation into everyday clinical care. ECIO 2026 will reflect that momentum, offering a programme shaped not only by the latest research, but by practical learning opportunities reflective of the challenges faced by IO professionals around the world.
On its first day, ECIO 2026 will offer another instalment of the IO Foundation Course offering those wishing to enter the discipline an overview of oncology topics. In parallel, a newly designed breast cryoablation course will give attendees the opportunity to learn more about this emerging treatment option with a blend of didactic lectures and hands-on workshops.
As the congress unfolds, ECIO will offer numerous further session formats. We will have a close look at lung ablation which will be covered with a basic course as well as a multidisciplinary tumour board. The popular video learning sessions will also be offered again, providing a step-by-step guide on key procedures.
A new feature we’re particularly excited about will be a hands-on workshop on confirmation software, addressing a growing need for precision, reproducibility, and confidence in image-guided therapy.
Multidisciplinary collaboration remains at the heart of ECIO, and the tumour board sessions have long exemplified this. In 2026, we will build on this foundation with tumour boards on each – lung, liver, renal, and colorectal cancer. These multidisciplinary sessions are always a highlight of the conference, offering a platform to explore the evolving role of IO within diverse clinical settings and bringing together voices from oncology, surgery, radiation therapy, and IR.
Another standout highlight of ECIO 2026 will be a special session focused on spine treatment, an area of growing importance within the IO landscape. This session will examine established therapies as well as emerging trends, and available data.
Whether you’re joining us to expand your clinical knowledge, sharpen your technical skills, or connect with the world’s biggest community of specialists in minimally invasive cancer care, ECIO 2026 will offer something for everyone. As ever, we remain committed to providing opportunities for learning at every stage of the IO career pathway, ensuring that each attendee leaves empowered, inspired, and ready to further advance the field.
We look forward to welcoming you to another vibrant, collaborative, and unforgettable ECIO. Join us as we continue to shape the future of interventional oncology together!
